On Sunday, April 9, the La Canada Presbyterian Church overwhelmingly elected The Rev. Dr. Jeff Hoffmeyer as their new Senior Pastor.
Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer, who has been an ordained Presbyterian pastor for more than nine years, will begin his duties the week of May 21st. He is the fifth Senior Pastor in LCPC’s 69-year history.
“It is clear that God is opening the door for my family to be a part of this amazing community, and for me to serve in the midst of a faithful and loving congregation. I can’t wait to be a part of what God is doing through this church in LA and in the world,” Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer said.
“The Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer is an inspiring preacher who brings an authentic and collaborative leadership style,” said Rev. Gareth Icenogle, who has served as Interim Senior Pastor since 2015. “He will be a gracious and effective leader for LCPC,” Rev. Icenogle said.
The Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer was called to LCPC following an 18-month nationwide search conducted by the church’s nine-member Pastor Nominating Committee. “From our very first interview, Jeff stood out from all of the more than 200 candidates we evaluated,” said Dick Kleinert, who co-chaired the committee with fellow LCPC member Catherine Rayer. “He has a real gift for preaching, a deep love and understanding of the Bible, and strong leadership and organizational skills.”
Most recently, Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer served as Interim Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church Fort Collins in Colorado. Before that, he was a teaching pastor and ministry consultant at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, Colo.; Interim Pastor at Valmont Community Presbyterian Church, also in Boulder, and was Associate Pastor at Fremont Presbyterian Church in Sacramento.
He holds a Ph. D. in Theology from the Graduate Theological Union, a Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Colorado. He also attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary and Baylor University.
The Rev. Dr. Hoffmeyer is married to his wife of 18 years, Dr. Heather Bright Hoffmeyer, an obstetrician and gynecologist in private practice in Boulder. They have two children, Eleanore (14) and Andersen (11). The family will be moving to La Cañada this summer.
In addition to Kleinert and Rayer, other LCPC members who served on the nominating committee were David Boyd, Gini Frederich, Al Kelley, Betsy Merchant, Julie Milbrodt, Scott Symington and Rob Toms.
