Spiritual practices can help us in our work: practices involving prayer and meditation can help us to:

  • turn our attention towards God and develop a deeper sense of mission
  • find a greater sense of purpose satisfaction, and effectiveness in our work
  • calm our anxieties during times of crisis and stress and allow us to act with greater clarity and wisdom

Our objective for this retreat will be to explore and experiment with a range of different practices and to discover which ones can be most useful in our day-to-day work lives.

 

Spiritual Practices for the Active Work Life

Can spiritual practices help us in our work lives? We believe they can.

Spiritual practices, such as those based on prayer and meditation, can help us turn toward God and develop a deeper sense of mission, thereby enabling us to work with more purpose, satisfaction, and effectiveness. They can help inform, focus, and energize our work. And in times of stress they can help reduce our anxiety so that we can act with greater clarity and wisdom.

You are invited to a one day retreat that will focus on Spiritual Practices for the Active Work Life. The purpose of the retreat will be to experiment with and explore a range of practices and to determine which ones are most likely to be useful in our individual lives. Along the way we will experience two very different forms of Christian meditation (Ignatian Meditation and a modified form of Centering Prayer) and discuss various quick practices that can help us stay grounded and focused when we have little or no time.
