What We Offer:
Entering its 36th year, the Parent Education program offers something for everyone. For children, it is an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with mom or dad, while exploring a rich and varied environment with children their own age. For parents, there are discussions on pertinent parenting issues led by a staff of caring teachers specially trained in child development.
Teacher assistants, who are also qualified in child development, work closely with the children facilitating confidence and comfort during class and discussion times. Parent Ed. is a program that nurtures parents and children in a Christian atmosphere. One of the greatest benefits is the encouragement and support parents receive on their parenting journey.
We offer weekly morning classes for parents and their children ranging in ages from infants to five-years-old. Parent-0nly classes are offered for parents of school-age children ranging from K through Teens.
About Our Classes & Instructors:
Mom of six, Nanette Brown, is back in action teaching her acclaimed Infant class on Tuesdays, as well as a Non-separating Toddler class on both Tuesdays & Wednesdays and New Babies (spring semester only) on Wednesdays. Darlene Dickie is excited to be teaching the Older Babies class on Thursdays. Mary Van Amringe will be teaching our time tested Two-Year-Old classes that have been popular for over a decade. Paige Dunbar is excited to be teaching the Family Class where you bring all your children (ages 0-5). Educator, Sloan Walsh, teaches our Three/Fours Kinder Readiness Class (offered on Wednesday afternoons to accommodate all preschool schedules).
Literacy Specialist Sloan Walsh will also teach the PEK (Parenting Elementary Kids) class on Wednesdays. First semester Parenting Tweens will be taught by Director, Anne Bierling, along with Sloan Walsh, Nanette Brown, Mary Van Amringe and other expert speakers. Shining Star award winner and Parent Coach/Columnist, Jan Roberts, returns to teach 2nd semester of her highly regarded Parents of Tweens . We are excited to welcome Tracy Tobias to our teaching staff, she will teach Parenting Teens. Due to popular demand we are offering both an AM and a PM Parenting Teens, Tracy will teach both.
LCPC Parent Education has also added both a Discussion Time Only option so parents can attend while their children are in pre-school–as well as affordable childcare during all classes. Class listings and online registration are available by clicking here or by calling 818-790-6708 x 205 for more information or to register on site.
For 35 years LCPC’s Parent Education Program has maintained its legacy of quality education & reputable staff. Approximately 450 parents and children from 22 cities come to campus every week for classes–driving from a 30 miles radius of La Canada. “I’ve been in Parent Ed for 5 years, starting when my daughter was 8 weeks old. It’s nearly impossible to summarize how much I have learned from this program, said Pasadena mom, Jill Longo. “The teachers are always spot on with timely topics for my children’s development, my children look forward to it every week, and it’s a highlight of my week as well.”

IF YOU HAVE A CHILD AGE 0-18, WE HAVE A CLASS FOR YOU!
Welcome From the Director, Anne Bierling
If you have a child between age 0-18, we have a class for you! We have classes for parents (and grandparents) of babies, toddlers, twos, threes, fours, and 0-5 year olds in our Family Class. We also have classes for parents of elementary, tween, and teen children! The staff is excited about the 2013- 2014 school year as we will be offering 13 different classes in our new facilities.
Our program is unique in that in addition to offering 8 “Parent & Child” Classes, we also offer 4 “Parent Only” Classes for parents of elementary, tween and teen children. Additionally, back by popular demand, we are able to offer a fall night series for parents who cannot attend classes during the day, Parent Express as well as Evening Parent & Me (for parents of children 0-5) which begins March 4th.
It is my pleasure to be part of this very special program. As always, please contact me with your ideas and input. The Parent Education Offices are located on the 1st floor of the Ministry Hub located at the bottom of the campus at 626 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA 91011 (818) 790-6708 x205.
God’s richest blessings,

Director of Parent Education
The La Canada Parent Education Program is a ministry committed to drawing families to Christ, His Church, and each other.
We strive to encourage loving and effective parenting by teaching concepts of human development, strategies for building stronger families, and an appreciation for the uniqueness of both parent and child.
In addition, we seek to create a warm, caring community of faith within each class which will provide meaningful support and encouragement to parents in their parenting journeys.
