What We Offer:
Entering its 37th year, the Parent Education program offers something for all families with children 0-18!
Weekly Parent Child Classes are for parents and their children ranging in ages from infants to five-years old. Parent-Only classes are offered for parents of school-age children ranging from K through 12th grade.
For children, it is an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with mom or dad, while exploring a rich and varied environment with children their own age. For parents, there are discussions on pertinent parenting issues led by a staff of caring teachers specially trained in child development, education, and family counseling. Teacher assistants, who are also experienced with children, facilitate confidence and comfort–as well as maintaining a stimulating and safe environment.
Parent Ed. is a program that nurtures parents and children in a Christian atmosphere. One of the greatest benefits is the encouragement and support parents receive on their parenting journey.
About Our Classes & Instructors:
Mom of six, Nanette Brown, is back in action teaching her acclaimed Infant Class, Non-separating Toddlers and New Babies (spring semester only). MFT, Allie Schreiner, has a passion for supporting new moms and teaching Older Babies. Mary Van Amringe will be teaching our time tested Two-Year-Old classes that have been popular for almost 15 years. Paige Dunbar brings her creativity and teaching experience to the Family Class where you bring all your children (ages 0-5). Educator & literary specialist, Sloan Walsh, teaches another Family Class as well as Parenting Elementary Kids (for parents of children k-4th grades). Shining Star award winner and Parent Coach/Columnist, Jan Roberts, teachers her highly regarded Parents of Tweens (for parents of children 5th-8th grades). Experienced mom of 3 children in their 20s, Tracy Tobias teaches two sections of Parenting High Schoolers (for parents of children 9th-12th grades).
LCPC Parent Education has also added both a Discussion Time Only option so parents can attend while their children are in pre-school or during work lunch.
Additionally, back by popular demand, we will offer several night series for parents who cannot attend classes during the day: Parent Express as well as Evening Parent & Me (for parents of children 0-5).
For 37 years LCPC’s Parent Education Program has maintained its legacy of quality education & reputable staff. Approximately 450 parents and children from 22 cities come to campus every week for classes–driving from a 30 miles radius of La Canada. “I’ve been in Parent Ed for 5 years, starting when my daughter was 8 weeks old. It’s nearly impossible to summarize how much I have learned from this program, said Pasadena mom, Jill Longo. “The teachers are always spot on with timely topics for my children’s development, my children look forward to it every week, and it’s a highlight of my week as well.”

Director of Parent Education
The La Canada Parent Education Program is a ministry committed to drawing families to Christ, His Church, and each other.
We strive to encourage loving and effective parenting by teaching concepts of human development, strategies for building stronger families, and an appreciation for the uniqueness of both parent and child.
In addition, we seek to create a warm, caring community of faith within each class which will provide meaningful support and encouragement to parents in their parenting journeys.
