Celebrate Labor Day with
Streamed ‘Americana’ Concert by LCPC!
Friday, September 4, 2020 at 7 PM
Salutes to America, our veterans and great Americans from our nearly 250 years of existence will be celebrated as part of a La Canada Presbyterian Church online concert, “Americana 2019: Great American Faces Reprise” on Friday, September 4, at 7 p.m. Use the link below to view the concert on your computer, television or video player.
Starting with the four Presidential faces on Mount Rushmore, the concert will traverse our history and culture, recognizing great Americans who have helped make us who and what we are. The program will include a salute to our military veterans and first responders. “As part of this recognition, the choir and orchestra will combine to present Song for the Unsung Heroes and God Bless the U.S.A.” said Jack Lantz, a former Army captain, who will conduct the choir and orchestra. And everyone will join in singing (online) the always popular Armed Forces Salute, when current and former members of each branch of service are saluted for their service and sacrifice.
This program celebrates special national anniversaries, with appropriate music, videos and spoken words: the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the first men walking on the moon; the 150th anniversary of the “golden spike” completion of the U.S. transcontinental railroad; the 90th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birth, and the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The accompanying multimedia presentation will feature inspirational videos, photos from American history, and picturesque images from across the country. Tyler Wright, former CEO of YMCA of the Foothills, will once again act as host and emcee. The concert will include a full range of familiar patriotic music, from John Philip Sousa to Carmen Dragon, plus Louie Armstrong.
“Americana 2019 Reprise” will include a cast of more than 100 singers and instrumentalists directed by Jack Lantz, LCPC’s Director of Music and Worship Arts. The concert is suitable for adults and children of all ages.
La Canada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd. Worship services are streamed on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. (traditional style) and 10:30 a.m. (contemporary style). Follow this link to watch the concert: live.lacanadapc.org
