Americana 2020 Concert

July 3, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Celebrate Independence Day with Streamed ‘Americana’ Concert by LCPC!

Salutes to America, our veterans and iconic film composer John Williams will be celebrated as part of a La Canada Presbyterian Church concert, “Americana 2020” on Friday, July 3, at 7:30 p.m.

This special concert will be streamed via the LCPC website at: live.lacanadapc.org

The concert will include a salute those who have died in the defense of the country. “As part of this recognition, the choir and orchestra will combine to present ‘Homeward Bound” and ‘Hymn to the Fallen’ from John Williams’ score to the film “Saving Private Ryan” said Jack Lantz, a former Army captain who will conduct the choir and orchestra. “And everyone will join in singing the always popular ‘Armed Forces Medley.’” In that latter piece, current and former members of each branch of service will be invited to stand in their homes when their service song is played, as we recognize their service.

As has become custom, the multimedia presentation will feature inspirational videos, photos from American history and picturesque images from across the country.  Tyler Wright, former CEO of the  YMCA of the Foothills will once again act as host and emcee.  The concert will include a full range of familiar patriotic music, from John Philip Sousa to Carmen Dragon to John Williams.

“Americana 2020” will include a cast of more than 120 singers and instrumentalists directed by Jack Lantz, LCPC’s Director of Music and Worship Arts. It will be a multimedia concert that tells the story of our great country and some of the major events of America’s history, and is suitable for all ages.  Joining the LCPC choir and orchestra will be a guest choir from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, La Crescenta Stake.
