Practicing God’s Presence
November 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 6:30 pm on day Second of the month, repeating until December 12, 2023
We invite you to join us on the Second Tuesday of every Month, 6:30-8:00 pm in Cook Prayer Chapel for a time of quiet reflection and prayer as we practice the ancient art of Lectio Divina.
On Tuesday, May 9, at 6:30PM in Cook Prayer Chapel, Marian Lamb, Assistant Director of Spiritual Formation, will lead a practice of Examen. We will invite God into a reflection on the past school year/program year and consider where we have seen God at work, the blessings for which we are grateful, and what we might learn from our difficulties. This will be the last contemplative practice offered by LCPC until the fall. No need to RSVP. Just come. For questions, email marian@lacanadapc.org.
Led by LCPC Spiritual Directors and members of LCPC’s Contemplative Ministries Team, this traditional practice focuses attention on scripture in a distinctive way. It involves reading or listening to a passage of scripture four times, with several minutes of silence between each reading. Each reading is accompanied by invitations to listen to the passage differently. During the process, one is drawn progressively deeper into the passage and the experience of prayer. We can grow as disciples of Jesus by spending time in His presence, slowing down and attuning ourselves to His divine voice. Spiritual practices such as Lectio Divina can open us up to how God’s Holy Spirit wants to work in and through our lives.
We hope that you will join us for this special time of drawing near to God. No registration necessary.
