For over 40 years, Harambee Ministries has served a 12-block target area in Northwest Pasadena, CA. Centered at Howard St. and Navarro Ave., the location was once called “blood corner,” but with decades of love, dedication and service, they have improved conditions for kids, students, families and the community. “Harambee” means “let’s get together and push” in Swahili. Harambee Ministries nurture and equip leadership that will holistically minister to the community by sharing Biblical truths, in order to achieve the rebuilding of urban neighborhoods through relocation, reconciliation and redistribution. Dedicated volunteers and teachers educate, empower, disciple and grow Christian leaders who will uplift and effect positive, sustainable change in their families, our community and beyond.

Harambee is looking for adults to provide tutoring for their students who attend Altadena Arts Magnet, Eliot Arts Magnet and McKinley K-8 Schools in Pasadena. There are 2 ways to provide tutoring support.

BEE Program | 1-on-1, via Zoom
BEE Program | Power Hour; for an hour after school, group tutoring is provided to the students who attend.
When | Schedule can be worked around volunteer’s availability to some extent.
Where | Zoom or In-person. Locations vary within Pasadena

After the Bell Snack Provider | Harambee needs volunteers to provide after school snacks for K-8^th graders.
When | Mondays – Fridays, 3-6pm
Where | McKinely K-8 School in Pasadena
