Door of Hope

Meal Donors | DOH is inviting LCPC to partner with families facing homelessness through volunteering as meal donors! Volunteers provide and drop off dinners at one or both locations in Pasadena. Volunteers may pick a recurring day, cover one or both locations--the need is a flexible opportunity. Depending on location, volunteers are providing a meal for 7 to 12 adults. People can volunteer individually, as a group (family, LifeGroup, etc.)
When | Ongoing need Monday-Thursday evenings with delivery between 5:30-5:45 PM.
Where | Pasadena locations (669 N. Los Robles and the second location a few blocks from there)
Additional Details | When you sign up, you will be emailed the current totals (# of adults, teens, and children). When you email Alli Burnison, please indicate whether you would like to drop off a meal, or if you would like to sit and eat with families.

Translation Services (Spanish currently) | DOH is looking for someone bilingual in Spanish and English (adult or college-age) to help translate during case management and therapy sessions. The volunteer must agree to a background check and any in-person appearances will require proof of vaccination and masks.
When | Ongoing usually Monday - Thursday evenings between 5 PM - 8 PM. Some daytime services are needed as well
Where | All 4 locations - some addresses are undisclosed until the approval process happens. Can be in person or virtual.

Childcare | At Door of Hope, there are many needs for on-site childcare. DOH is currently seeking volunteers who can provide childcare in the evenings while parents are attending the life skills courses. (Must be 16 years or older may volunteer.)
When | The parenting course launches the week of March 21 and continues once weekly for the next six weeks either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 7-9 PM.

Additional Details | It is not necessary that volunteers commit 1x/week for 6 weeks, although it is preferred to have as much consistency as possible, as this helps the volunteer build trust and relationships with the kids.

Elizabeth House

Meals for Elizabeth House Residents | Volunteers can help provide dinner to the residents of Elizabeth House. You can sign up to serve one meal or make an ongoing commitment. Volunteers can serve as individuals or volunteer as a group (family, LifeGroup, etc).
When | Any evening, Monday-Thursday at 5 PM
Where | Elizabeth House, 760 Santa Barbara St. in Pasadena
Additional Details | Dinners should be provided by 4:45PM. Individuals are welcome to drop off the meal or stay and eat together. Please adhere to a maternity diet.

Attend a Baby Shower for an EH ResidentVolunteers can attend and provide refreshments for a baby shower for an Elizabeth House resident (s).
When | Dates TBD as needed, usually held quarterly on a weeknight.
Where | Elizabeth House, 760 Santa Barbara St. in Pasadena
Additional Details | Generally we ask gifts are covered by the group providing the shower, as well as light food and decorations.

Hope Gardens

Hope Gardens Meal Serve | Volunteers can help serve meals to the residents and families of Hope Garden. You can sign up to serve one meal or make an ongoing commitment. Volunteers can serve as individuals or volunteer as a group (family, LifeGroup, etc). Volunteers must be 13 and older. (Under 16 years old is required to have a parent present.)
When | 3 shifts are available every day, 7 days a week

Hope Gardens Childcare (Peeps) | Volunteers are needed to help provide childcare for infants and toddlers. This greatly helps the moms as they work on their education or work. Volunteers must be 18 and older. A background check is required.

Hoving Home

Meals for Hoving Home | Volunteers to provide a meal to the residents and families of Hoving Home and joining them for fellowship. You can sign up to serve one meal or make an ongoing commitment. Volunteers can serve as individuals or volunteer as a group (family, LifeGroup, etc).
When | Monday-Friday dinner is at 5pm and you are welcome to fellowship until 6:15pm. If you wish to utilize our kitchen and cook onsite, you may arrive at 3-3:30pm to prepare the meal.

Stars

After School Homework Volunteer | Stars is looking for volunteers to come and serve the community by tutoring & building relationships with their students. Starting age for volunteers is 14+.
When | (K-MS) 5:30-6:30PM, Tuesday – Thursday; (HS) 5:00-6:00PM, Tuesdays

After School Enrichment Leader | Stars is looking for leaders to facilitate specific skill(s) workshops for K-12 students. Starting age for volunteers is 14+. Experience with the topic/skill you will be teaching is required. Enrichments Stars students are interested in the following: cooking, art, music, sports, auto mechanics, sewing clothes, astronomy, financial literacy, and mental wellness. Stars is open to skills beyond this list!

Study Hall Tutor | Stars is looking for volunteers to come and serve their community by tutoring and building relationships with their High School students. Starting age for volunteers is 20+. Volunteers should be qualified to tutor subjects such as Math, Science, English, etc.

Mentor Speaker | Stars is looking for leaders in the community to connect and mentor Rose City High School students in a group setting. An ideal mentor is an adult that cares about youth, enjoys building relationships, and is flexible.
When | Fridays @ 9:45-11:00AM

Adult Trainers/Pick Your Brain | Stars is looking for adults to provide one-time or series of workshops on an “adulting” topic for 1-2 hours. Volunteers can decide their topic. Some past topics have been personal finance, navigating higher education, nutrition, mental health, taxes, adult friendships, moving states, etc.
When | Schedule can be worked around the speaker’s availability.
Where | Hybrid - virtual (zoom) & in-person (proof of vaccination required). Locations vary within Pasadena.

I-graduate Coach | Stars is looking for adults to encourage and support college students in navigating the higher education system. This volunteer opportunity comes with a 4-hour training with Stars. This commitment is a 2-year commitment with a minimum of three 2-hr. meetings per semester with the student. This position can be done hybrid and comes with support from staff.
When | Schedule can be worked around coaches’ availability.

Mentoring – Pod-Style | Stars is looking for adults that seek to develop an authentic and healthy relationship with youth to walk alongside them in their season of life. Volunteers would meet in person with mentees for a minimum of 8 hours per month for at least 1 year, maintain regular contact with mentees, and check in with their Mentor Coach.
When | Schedule can be worked around the volunteer’s availability.

Stars Food Distribution Center | Stars is looking for volunteers to prepare food packages for Stars families. Starting age for volunteering is 14+ (an exception when younger kids if they volunteer with a chaperone).  Teens & families can volunteer together! Proof of vaccination is required for all our in-person volunteers.
When | Tuesday, 2 hours between 9 AM – 1 PM

Stars Snack/Meal Prep | Stars is looking for volunteers to prepare snacks and meals to nourish K-12 students at the afterschool program. Starting age for volunteering is 14+ (an exception when younger kids, if they volunteer with a chaperone).  Teens & families can volunteer together! Stars would love to have a dish that is particular to your culture/family. More parameters will be communicated once the volunteer is onboarded. Proof of vaccination is required for all our in-person volunteers. We have virtual opportunities as well.

Gardening Volunteer | Stars is looking for volunteers that enjoy gardening (or want to learn) and could revitalize their green spaces. Equipment will be provided. Proof of vaccination is required for all our in-person volunteers.

Dinner for High School students | Stars is looking for volunteers to prepare a meal to nourish their high school students. Starting age for volunteering is 14+ (an exception when younger kids, if they volunteer with a chaperone). It is possible for teens & families to volunteer together! Stars would love to have a dish that is particular to your culture/family. More parameters will be communicated once the volunteer is onboarded. Proof of vaccination is required for all our in-person volunteers.

Union Station Homeless Services

Kitchen Service Shifts at our Adult Center | Join us and volunteer in our kitchen by assisting our staff with preparing, cooking, serving, and cleaning up. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to volunteer with a chaperone and 16 years old to volunteer without one.
When | Monday through Sunday, 7:00am - 9:30am and 10:30am - 1:30pm

Adopt-a-Meal | Provide a home cooked meal for our residents! As a part of our Adopt-a-Meal program, volunteers have the opportunity to plan a menu of their choice, shop for the ingredients, cook the meal, and serve to our residents. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to volunteer with a chaperone and 16 years old to volunteer without one.

Club Meal | Join us reaching out to kids with disabilities right in our local community by providing and serving dinner to kids and leaders at club.
When | Select Friday nights, Volunteers arrive at 5:15pm and serve until 6:45/7:30p as available
