Together, using the prayer calendar, we will pray for each of LCPC’s Outreach Partners and Ministries this year. The prayer calendar has a specific LCPC ministry or Outreach Partner for each week. Read below for the ministry or Outreach Partner’s current prayer requests as well as a spiritual practice for each week. You can also sign up to receive a weekly email in your inbox with the week’s prayer requests and practice. Printed copies of the calendar are available in the office during the week and in the Narthex/Lobby on Sunday mornings.
December 2023
Week 1 (December 3 - 9): LCPC Worship Support Volunteers
At the heart of our faith practice is worship. In addition to the pastors, musicians, family ministry leaders, and tech team who lead us in worship, there are volunteers who extend hospitality and grace, inviting us to worship together and connect with God.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray for the Ushers, the Pew Team, and all those who volunteer behind the scenes (in many ministries) to help make our worship time and space beautiful and welcoming. May they be blessed as they serve and may they continue to grow in their faith!
Prayer Practice:
This Advent week, to prepare for Christ’s arrival, each day let go of one thing in your home you no longer need.
Week 2 (December 10 - 16): Youth with a Mission
YWAM is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions. The YWAM missionaries LCPC supports focus on using business relationships to help spread the good news of Jesus Christ in central Asia.
Prayer Requests:
Pray for fruit from the Refugee Jesus Film events that have happened and the future ones in many major cities in the US.
Pray our refugee neighbors that see the film and hear testimonies would be drawn to a relationship with Jesus and find freedom from sin.
Pray for [name redacted] that she may utilize her spiritual formation training to equip and encourage missionaries. Pray these laborers would grow in their relationship with the Lord.
Practice:
This Advent week, daily pray the Scripture passage Luke 10:2-3 “He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.”
Week 3 (December 17 - 23): LCPC’s Assistant Directors & Administrative Staff
LCPC is blessed with a highly capable, dedicated team of administrators and assistant directors. These staff members provide critical support to all LCPC ministries – handling ministry communications, scheduling, logistics, event coordination, volunteer recruitment and training, office organization, technology support, policy and systems implementation, and informational management.
Pray for:
Please lift the staff and their families in prayer. May God bless the work they do, and may they experience God’s joy, peace, hope, and love this Advent season. Give thanks for their dedication, hard work, and expertise.
Practice:
Each time you use a pot or pan or recipe this week, remember the LCPC administrative staff and assistant directors. Perhaps share a meal with a neighbor this week.
Week 4 (December 24 - 30): Beacon Housing
Beacon Housing is a faith-based housing provider for homeless and low income families. Emphasizing higher education, community, and faith in God, the program helps bridge the gap to permanent housing and independence. Beacon Housing operates three facilities in Los Angeles County, including Casa de Alegria.
Prayer Requests: Please pray for our community members who are struggling to stay housed while facing challenges such as loss of employment or illness.
Prayer Practice:
Please send a note with words of encouragement to get them through this difficult time together in Christ.
