Welcome to Babylon!
Come step back in time to ancient Babylon, exploring traditions, food, and activities. Join Daniel—torn from his home and forced into the king’s service. Imagine the pressure of learning a new language and culture…and the shock of discovering your best friends have been tossed into a fiery furnace. Kids and adults will find that they’re not much different from Daniel and his friends, who kept their faith in a challenging culture. Kids will participate in the marketplace making crafts and doing science projects, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into Bible-times snacks and visit Daniel where they will experience the Bible story. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day starts at Celebration—a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved.
We will have 3 different prices for VBS based on how much you volunteer as a parent. You pay the same price per child no matter how many children you have in the program.
- $25/ child if you volunteer all 5 mornings until noon
- $50/ child if you volunteer at least 2 mornings or equivalent (6-8 hours)
- $100/ child if you don’t volunteer at all
- $150/ child for Extended Day Option, 12-4 PM
There will be a mandatory VBS training for all volunteers on May 23, 7-8 PM, optional dinner at 6:30.
*Children need to be 4 years old by June 12. There will also be a 3 year old class for children of volunteers. They do many of the same activities as the PreK but all in their own classroom. We also have some brief information listed below for programs we offer throughout the year.
Children's Ministry hosts an annual family activity as a way to help families celebrate the Advent season. Families make crafts, participate in a service project and fellowship together.
A party for Jesus, where the children hear the story of Jesus' birth, bring a baby present, make a craft, sing songs, and celebrate with cupcakes.
This is an interactive event or series for families to reflect on Jesus' life, death and resurrection and spend time with one another.
Service is an important part of Christian Education. We provide a number of opportunities for families to serve together from preparing meals for the homeless to spending a weekend in an orphanage in Mexico. www.lacanadapc.org/serveopp
In this communion preparation class, 4th - 6th grade children and their parents learn the meaning of communion, baptism and worship, as well as more about what it means to be a part of the Presbyterian Church.
Four Sundays a year, elementary school children are invited to remain in the worship service for Family Communion. Research from several studies shows that one of the most important factors determining whether children continue their faith as adults is their connection to the larger church, including attending services.
