We have paid nursery staff in each room who are scheduled for every Sunday, ensuring consistency for your child. All of our nursery staff are CPR and first aid trained, have passed background checks and have experience caring for children. We strive to maintain our staff to child ratio of 1:5 and there are always at least two adults in each room. Our volunteers also have training and experience with children, have filled out an application and passed a background check. You can easily identify the staff and volunteers by their aprons.

We are fortunate to share facilities with our Infant Care Center (a weekday daycare program), which means our rooms meet strict state licensing requirements for safety and are age appropriate. In each room we have our own toys and activities for Sundays. The rooms are equipped with a landline phone in case of emergencies.

It is a priority for us to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the protection of your child. Toys are disinfected after each Sunday and when a child puts a toy in his/her mouth it is reserved for his/her use and then cleaned before it’s used by another child. The staff aprons, blankets and any linens used are laundered on the premises regularly.

For the safety and health of all children in the nursery, we ask you to observe the following Health Guidelines. We ask you to not bring your child to the nursery when you observe any of the following during the last 24 hours:

• Fever/Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Discharge in or around the eyes
• Any questionable rash
• Green or yellow runny nose
• Coughing
• Communicable disease

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask any of the staff.

Each child must be signed in by a parent or guardian. The nursery staff will text you if your child needs you in the nursery and when you sign out your child. Children will only be released to the parent or adult guardian listed on the sign in sheet. This is for the security and protection of your child.

What we need to know:

• Allergies Please let us know if your child has any kind of allergy.
• Special Instructions Feel free to write a note with anything you would like us to know to help care for your child. Drop-off times can be busy so it is easier on our staff to have written notes which they can refer to later.

Other things we want you to know:

• Please bring anything you would normally need to care for your child (stocked diaper bag with diapers, wipes and a change of clothes, etc.). It is helpful if diaper bags, clothing and other personal items are labeled with the child’s name.
• Please do not allow your toddler or 2 year old to bring personal toys or other possessions unless it is a “security” item (pacifier, blanket, etc.). Infant toys are ok if they comfort your child.
• We are unable to give your child medication of any kind.
• Feel free to use the infant room on Sunday mornings for breastfeeding and diaper changes even if you don’t drop your child off. There are also Koala Kare changing stations in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Family Life Center and next to the Worship Arts Center.
