Resources for Parents

Parent Cue App by Orange

This app is full of resources including the videos we use in our children's ministry, discussion questions, parenting tips and activity ideas. The app is personalized based on your children's ages and is connected to the curriculum we use in both our children's and youth programs.

Stick Faith Guide for Your Family by Dr. Kara Powell

The book uses the Sticky Faith research from Fuller Youth Institute and turns it into a super practical guide filled with ideas of HOW to apply the research to your family. This is a great read for couples or a small group to go through together.

Parenting Beyond Your Capacity by Reggie Joiner & Carey Nieuwhof

This is the essence of “Orange” ministry for parents.  Although many of the concepts relate to older children, the philosophy of the book is so foundational to how we want to do ministry at LCPC we would recommend it for parents with any age children.

Raising Prayerful Kids by Stephanie Thurling & Sarah Holmstrom

Written by two moms with connections to LCPC, Raising Prayerful Kids is an inspiring how to guide. The authors make a convincing case for spending time teaching kids the habit of prayer and then they give you practical ideas including games and activities for how to do that.

Children’s & Student Bibles

The fun-time, anytime read-aloud Bible rhyme! Boys and girls love the soothing rhyme in L.J. Sattagast’s bestseller The Rhyme Bible. This is the perfect choice for parents who want to introduce their toddlers to the Word of God. Joyful illustrations and classic stories told in vivid verse make this a sure favorite that will entertain your young ones and teach them biblical lessons that last a lifetime.

God’s Story for Me

A comprehensive preschool Bible that includes almost all of the stories we use on Sunday mornings in our kids programs.  Many parents have told us that this simple Bible helps them grow in their faith by introducing them to a wide variety of Bible stories and a general timeline for scripture. Perfect for 3 years-Kindergarten.

The Jesus Storybook Bible

A great storybook Bible that weaves the Big God Story of our redemption through Jesus into each Bible story.  This is less comprehensive and each story is longer then the preschool Bible but we absolutely love how it traces each story back to Jesus. Many families have read this together and have grown in their understanding of how the whole Bible fits together. Appropriate for 4-9 year olds.

The Action Bible

A very fun comic book style Bible storybook that is surprisingly comprehensive and accurate. If you have an elementary schooler that loves graphic novels, this would make a great gift.  Good for 2nd grade & up.

The Deep Blue Bible

All 3rd graders at LCPC get this Bible on 3rd grade Bible Sunday as a gift from Children’s Ministry.   It is a full text Bible so that kids can look up any Bible verse. We love the CEB translation which makes it readable for our elementary children.

The NRSV Student Bible

This is one of the Bibles that we use in Youth Ministry. The NRSV translation is consistent with what we most often use in the main service with the adults. Finding a good student Bible can be difficult so we also recommend just a plain text Bible like THIS.

Children’s Books

We have a wonderful selection of Children’s Books that you can check out from the Children’s Library located on the 2nd floor of the Children’s Pavilion.
